Here at Southern Roots Turf    

we offer a seven visit program to eradicate weeds and to ensure your lawn is lush and green. We start by making sure your lawn gets the proper blend of nutrients to begin correcting any problems or deficiencies.
We use custom blends of nitrogen, phosphorous potassium and other nutrients in our granular applications to match your lawns needs and to make sure your lawn continues to grow strong roots and rich healthy blades. 

Our liquid applications are used in the spring and fall months to keep your lawn weed free and beautifully green without causing the grass to grow out of control.


 

You may find that your planted trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants are suffering from damage due to insects and harmful pests.  We understand the importance of preserving the investment  you have made in your landscape, as well as your peace of mind.   That's why we offer many solutions to control these unwanted pests and insects, preserving the beauty of your entire landscape, not just your turfgrass.  One of our professionals can personally inspect the property and develop a plan for treatment unique to your landscape that focuses on doing just that.  

Our customized tree and shrub care program includes fertilization with insect and disease control.

Trees and shrubs are able to resist insects and disease better when they are healthy. A key component to our tree and shrub care program is deep root fertilization. Deep root fertilization will ensure that your landscape is vibrant and full.

 There are many causes of diseases that can attack your trees and shrubs. If left untreated these diseases can take over, ruining the appearance of your landscape.

 We proactively treat shrubs and plant beds to prevent and rid them of insects and diseases that are causing damage.

Fire Ants are more than just ordinary ants. These pests pack a powerful punch and can be very harmful to Georgia homeowners. Unlike most ants, Fire ants sting, and are very aggressive. Bigger colonies can reach up to 250,000  ants. These ants are known to take down small mammals and injure children and those with weaker defenses. 

Our team has years of experience protecting lawns against fire ants here in Georgia. Our goal is to always ensure that you are satisfied with our service. That is why we take care of the problem at the source. Many lawn companies will only spray down your yard taking care of the ants that are on the surface. By researching the feeding habits of ants, we have found that bait is the best method for eliminating them for good. The bait works even when you can't find the nest and unlike contact pesticides bait can wipe out the entire colony by destroying the queen. Worker ants find the bait, bring it back to the larvae for conversion into edible liquid food and then pass the pesticide on to the queen and the rest of the colony.

Core Aeration is the process of mechanically removing small plugs of thatch and soil from the lawn to improve natural soil aeration. Heavily used lawns, or those growing on heavy clay or subsoils may need more than one aeration each year. Core aeration can help make your lawn healthier and reduce its maintenance requirements through these means:

OUR SEVEN VISIT TURF CARE PROGRAM

Round One 

January/February

Lime application to maintain proper pH levels in the root zone.  A blend of nitrogen, phosphorous potassium and other nutrients. Spot treatment of any perennial grassy or broad leaf weeds.

Round Two 

March /April

Pre-emergent and Post-emergent herbicide application to prevent and rid of emerging Spring and Summer weeds. Spot treatment of perennial grassy weeds.

  Round Three 

April/May

Pre-emergent and Post-emergent herbicide application to prevent and rid of emerging Spring and Summer weeds. Nitrogen to enhance spring green up and provide essential nutrients to the turf. Inspection of the turf for disease or pest issues and recommendations. Spot treatment of perennial grassy weeds. 

Round Four 

June/July

A slow release granular fertilizer to provide nutrients and maintain excellent health and color. Inspection of the turf for disease or pest issues and recommendations for treatment. Spot treatment of any broad leaf or perennial grassy weeds. 

Round Five 

July/August

A slow release granular fertilizer with iron to aid the lawn in drought resistance and lawn recovery from heat stress. Inspection of the turf for late summer fungus and pest issues. Spot treatment of any broadleaf or perennial grassy weeds. 

Round Six 

September/October

Pre-emergent and Post-emergent herbicide application to prevent emerging Fall and Winter weeds. Potassium to strengthen the root zoneSpot treatment of perennial grassy weeds. 

Round Seven 

November/December

Pre-emergent and Post-emergent herbicide application to prevent and rid of emerging Fall and Winter weeds. Spot treatment of perennial grassy weeds. 

OUR FIVE VISIT TREE AND SHRUB PROGRAM  

Round One

March/April

A dormant oil mix sprayed on your landscape plant material for the control of scale, mites, and overwintering insects, as well as control of egg masses. 

Round Two

April/May

Spring granular fertilization helps to improve plant vigor, blooms of spring flowering trees and shrubs, and to aid in winter stress recovery. Spring pro-active insect and disease control for insects such as eastern tent caterpillars, gypsy moth caterpillars, canker worms, and spruce spider mites. Diseases include Apple Scab, Powdery Mildew, and Rust.

Round Three

June/July

Second insect and disease treatment for the control of late spring/summer pests such as mites, scale, lace bugs, bag worm, black vine weevil, and Japanese beetle. Treatment for previously listed diseases continues until dry weather comes in. 

Round Four

September/October

A treatment is applied for late season pests such as scale, aphids, mites, and fall web worm. 

Round Five

November/December

Winter plant protection of anti-desiccant to protect broad leaf evergreens from drying and transpiration over the winter months, also known as wind burn.
